Nature's Playground

Horseback Riding

Explore our sweeping landscapes from the back of a horse. All riding levels are welcome - outfitters will match you with a horse that fits your experience.

Fishing

Throw that line in and see what is biting from one of our nation's most beautiful rivers, The John Day River. All skill levels encouraged to give it a try!

Rafting

Rafting on the John Day River might not be a Class IV experience, but we love that you can relax and take a dip in the water and check out all of the wildlife along the way.

Swimming

There are many swimming places that have great amenities (grills, diving docks, restrooms) but we prefer to find our own swimming holes that give us a sense of wonder. Bring your own inner tube and float the day (and your troubles) away!

Soap Making

We've got a master soap-maker right here in our valley. She loves teaching many homesteading skills, and one of our favorites is goat milk soap-making.

Hiking

Our ranch is situated in a very prime location, right in the middle of many gorgeous hiking trails such as The Painted Hills, Blue Basin and Clarno.

Fossil Hunting

Did you know that the John Day River Territory is rich with ancient fossils? You can even dig for your own (and keep them!) in back of the high school in Fossil, Oregon.

Hot Springs

One of our favorite chill out locations is Ritter Hot Springs, on the site of a former hospital that has been converted to hotel rooms. There is even a large spring-fed pool that is rarely in use. A secret treasure spot!
